DIY Espadrilles for Adults

Make Your Own Summer Espadrilles!

Say What? Yes, it’s true, you can make your own espadrilles! In one Saturday afternoon, you’ll create and personalize your own pair of espadrilles to show off all summer long.

Participants will be provided with pre-made jute soles with rubber bottoms, fabric interfacing, hand sewing needle, thread, and yarn for completing the shoes.

Materials needed:

Participants will need to purchase fabric prior to class.

Outer fabric for espadrilles upper: ¼ yard or fat quarter of cotton, lightweight cotton canvas, denim, or barkcloth.

Inner (lining) fabric for espadrille: ¼ yard or fat quarter of cotton or lightweight cotton canvas

Shop local! Visit Firecracker Fabrics (firecrackerfabrics.com) to purchase your fabric! A limited selection of fabric will be available to purchase the day of the class, but colors and prints will be at the discretion of the instructor.

Participants in this class will use a sewing machine and will be taught how to hand stitch the fabric to the sole. This is NOT a learn to sew class. Participants must be comfortable using a sewing machine and have basic sewing skills.

Please be sure to select your shoe size according to the manufacturer’s chart (see image above)

If you wear a half size, the manufacturer recommends going smaller (for example, if you wear a 7.5, choose size 7).

Keep in mind that all feet are not created equal! We wish we could guarantee they will fit perfectly. We have provided size specifications from the manufacturer and their recommendation for half sizes. We cannot take responsibility for fit issues and hope that if they don’t fit you perfectly, you can still appreciate the making process and pass them on to a deserving friend!

Toddler/kid sizes will be offered at a later date!

Due to the fact that materials are size specific, all class registrations are final. We will not be able to offer refunds.
