At Hatch, we know kids are experts at play, experimentation, and exploration. Open Studio is a great time to develop a child’s creative confidence, try an art material in a new way, and play alongside old friends and new. It's a time for families to make a project together or for kids to discover a new way of creating. We want Hatch to be a neighborhood art destination, a place to build community while building with materials!
SUMMER OPEN STUDIO HOURS: 12:00-5:00 Friday, 11-1 Saturday
REMINDER: NO OPEN STUDIO Fri Aug 3 due to Dollhouse Camp. We will be open Sat Aug 4 11-1.
There will be a late start at 1:00pm Aug 17th, 24th.
* We prefer RSVP for open studio when school is out or the weather is yucky, as we anticipate more artists than usual! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP! Drop ins will be welcome as space allows. If you have any questions about open studio, the fastest way to reach is us is by emailing email@example.com
How it works:
A new material(s) will be offered each week (such as weaving with recycled materials), in addition to some ongoing favorites (like collage or painting). We’ll give you some ideas for materials use and questions to ask your little artist, but you are welcome to sit back and watch your child do their thing! Or even better, try making art alongside your child. By modeling experimentation, curiosity, and tinkering, you are already helping to build your child’s creative confidence (and your own!). We now offer clay at all open studios. Wheel throwing is offered on the first Saturday of the month 11-1. Reserve your spot by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Open Studio is $12.00 for up to one hour for each adult/child pair. Siblings are welcome, and the rate for each additional child is $8.00 for up to one hour. No registration is required, just stop by the studio during our open studio hours, posted on our calendar
Clay Open Studio Rates:
At open studios where we offer clay, the pricing is a bit different. The base open studio price covers clay exploration. The clay pieces your child creates can be taken home at the end of the studio session. Clay that is not fired is very fragile. We recommend you have your piece fired if you'd like to keep it for a long time and definitely if you want to use it for food or drink purposes. Here's the pricing structure for firing:
1 small piece: 5.00
1 medium piece 7.00
1 large piece 9.00
Fired clay pieces will be ready for pick up at an open studio 2-3 weeks after your session. Pieces will be stored at Hatch for 60 days, and then we will reclaim them for future material.
